Chaldean and Pythagorean are not the same system

The two systems in common use disagree on 16 of the 26 letters, which is why a name that reads as 1 here can read as something else on another site. Pythagorean numbers the alphabet in order — A is 1, B is 2, up to I at 9, then J starts again at 1. Chaldean does not follow the alphabet at all: it groups letters by sound, so A, I, J, Q and Y share the value 1, and it never assigns 9 to any letter, that number being held back as sacred. A 9 can only ever arrive in a Chaldean reading through reduction, never from a single letter.

They also stop in different places.
